Assignment

The Task Detail Assignment tab carries all the standard task fields.  If using Microsoft Project these fields are automatically filled from the project plan.  If creating a task manually enter the assignment fields directly in the Assignment tab.

The following table explains the Task level fields which are found on the Assignment tab when the project is created from a Microsoft Project plan.

The total number of available hours from the beginning of the task to the end.

MSP plan - Within the MS Project plan the % Complete is calculated as a percentage of Actual Work / Work.

Start

The date the task was scheduled to begin.

The priority assigned to the task by the PM.  This is the priority in relation to the assignees other tasks.

What stage the task is currently:  Not Started, In Progress, Complete, Waiting on someone else, Deferred. Set initially as “Not Started”

Actual Start

The Actual Date the assignee reports that the task was started.

The Actual Date the assignee reports that the task was finished.

Notes

PM notes on the task.  Notes from the task information screen.

MPP

In addition to the task level fields there are Assignment level fields on the Assignment tab.  For any given task there may be multiple people assigned.  This tracks the individual assignments.
